Job Summary:
This position involves collaborating with senior R&D engineers, quality, regulatory, and operations. Conducting research, assisting in design tasks, and contributing to the overall product development process to support continuous improvement efforts of existing product lines.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to contribute to the design and development of new products and continuous improvements of existing product lines.
- Assist in creating detailed design specifications, drawings, and prototypes.
- Conduct research to understand current industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies in orthopedic medical device development.
- Analyze technical literature, research papers, and patent documents to inform design decisions.
- Participate in the fabrication of prototypes using relevant materials and processes.
- Assist in conducting tests and experiments to evaluate device performance, mechanical properties, and usability.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models of orthopedic implants and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with design teams to iterate and refine device designs based on feedback.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of design changes, test results, and development activities.
- Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing findings, design iterations, and progress.
- Understand design controls and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO) applicable to orthopedic medical device development.
- Work closely with experienced engineers, designers, and project managers to align on project goals and milestones.
- Contribute ideas for innovative solutions to enhance device performance and usability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in orthopedic device development and a desire to learn and contribute.
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and mechanics. Basic machine skills.
- Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in identifying and addressing technical issues. Self-starter who takes initiative to move projects forward.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and organized documentation.
- Enthusiasm for learning, adaptability, and a proactive approach to tasks.
